About

Hey there, I’m Dahlia and I’m an Author Accelerator certified book coach. I’m based in Los Angeles where I live with my overflowing bookshelves, endless Netflix to-watch queue, and a fabulous view of the sunset.

I grew up in Houston, Texas in a house full of books. After graduating from Brandeis University with a B.A. in political science and an ill-fated consideration of law school, my love of stories led me to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television development. I have spent almost 20 years working on all sides of the television industry, cementing my love of working with writers, honing my sense of story, and learning to navigate the demands of the marketplace.

In 2021 I discovered the world of book coaching and saw a powerful chance to bring the skills and knowledge I’ve built in my career to a whole new type of writer. As consolidation continues to impact every corner of our artistic industries, I saw the increasing need for writers to have access to clear, compassionate, informed criticism of their work before taking it out into the world.

Today in my business I help speculative fiction writers get their story out of their head and onto the page, bust through perfectionism, and build confidence so they can realize their vision and take their writing to the next level. Unlike an editor who only works with the material on the page, I accompany the writer through the entire writing process, taking a holistic view of the story, the writer’s career aspirations, and the emotional elements of putting your work out into the world.

I believe in tough love – holding the work to the highest standard while holding the writer with compassion and kindness. I believe that writing is hard, meaningful work and that you don’t have to do it alone. I believe that we all crave a little magic in our lives and books can be a portal to that magic.

When I’m not book coaching I enjoy playing piano, experiencing all the nature of LA has to offer, and acting as a dedicated aunt to all my friends’ fur babies.
